GOLDENDOODLES
Goldendoodles Defined

Goldendoodles are a mix between Golden Retrievers and Poodles. When these two pure breeds are cross-bred, their pups often exhibit a phenomenon called Hybrid Vigor. This happens when two purebred dogs are cross-bred and their pups become healthier and grow better than either of their purebred lines.
We breed both American and English Goldendoodles. The main difference between the two has to do with the Golden Retriever lineage. English Goldendoodles are a cross between an English Cream Golden Retriever and a Poodle.
Temperament

These doodles are very intelligent and obedient family companions. They are very good towards children, other dogs, and other pets. One thing that you should know upfront before adding a doodle to your home is that they are a very social breed and need to be involved with you to be the happiest.

The temperament of doodles is affected by a variety of factors. These factors include Training, Socialization, and Heredity. Doodles inherently are willing to approach people and want to be held. They also develop into very curious and playful companions.

One aspect of doodles that we love is that they are very adaptable pets. They have a go with the flow attitude and are very tolerant of novice pet owners. Because of their high intelligence and go with the flow personalities they are eager to learn at the pace you are able to teach them. Even though they are adaptable dogs they are also very sensitive with strong desires to please you as their owner. They respond best to positive reinforcement training.
Golden Doodles are excellent with children and we have loved how they treat our babies. They let our kids crawl all over them and play with them. Our "Lady" doodle even lets our almost 2-year-old son walk her without pulling on him or knocking him over. She has also let him play with her and her pups even when she is feeding her pups. He has so much fun loving on his dog.

Coat/Color/Size
Coat

The coat on a Goldendoodle can vary depending on a few factors. These factors are generation, parent characteristics as well as puppy variation.
Most first-generation Goldendoodles shed lightly. Some can have moderate shedding. If you are coming from a Golden or Lab, you most likely will think the first generation Goldendoodles are non-shedding. First-generation doodle coats shed a moderate amount but significantly less than a Golden Retriever. These first-generation Doodles are compatible with most families with Mild allergies. They have straight to loose wavy gorgeous plush coats.

Second-generation doodle coats are much curlier than first-generation ones. The curlier the coat the less shedding the Doodle has. We breed second-generation doodles partly due to this trait. Even if allergies are not a concern cleaning up dog hair is never very fun. So these low shed dogs are great as indoor companions.

Our doodles have soft, thick wavy to curly hair. Keep in mind the more curl less shedding.
Color

Our doodles colors range from White, Tan, Chocolate, Black, Red and a variety of Party mixes of each Color listed. Each of our dams was chosen specifically for their genetic lines and the different unique colors of pups they birth. What is your favorite?

Size

Our Goldendoodles are considered mid-size; between 30-55 lbs, which makes for a more manageable furry friend! We determine this off the size of the parents. We believe this to be the absolute primo-sized Doodle. They are big enough to not get stepped on, injured easily, etc. as a tiny dog may, as well as big enough to go on long outdoor outings. They are small enough to lend themselves to living in any size home, apartment, mobile, etc. JUST PERFECT!
Gender/Health

Gender a personal preference, but we encourage you to give it some consideration and educate yourself before making your final decision. One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is “Which one is better behaved, male or female?’ A point that must be absolutely understood is that, just like humans, each and every puppy has its own unique personality which will influence issues such as trainability, temperament, behavior, etc. The key factor in having a well-behaved furry friend IS NOT GENDER!! It is the effort humans put into training and behavior expectations. Animals are taught directly and indirectly how to be calm and obedient, or to be obnoxious, rambunctious, and disobedient!

HEALTH
While Goldendoodles tend to be healthier than their parent breeds, they can still be prone to conditions such as hip and elbow dyspepsia and certain eye problems. Skin conditions, such as hot spots and allergies, are seen in this mix. Also like many other breeds they may get cancer. A reputable breeder will take many various precautions to protect their pups and be very cautious about exposing the pups.
Puppies from inexperienced breeders may have many concerning health issues. We are a small, family breeder, and each of our dogs is a treasured family pet! We take the healthcare of our adult dogs and every beautiful pup that arrives very seriously. Upon adoption, your puppy will come to you with the first set of shots administered by us and de-wormed as per the RFD instructions for puppies. We have found this is the best way to keep our puppies in the best health possible. PLEASE be sure you are able to make the commitment to keep your puppy on a healthy path and work with your vet to keep them safe.
